Windows SP4 upgrade - 'inspecting' phase should take how long?
Trying to install SP4 for Windows 2000 Server from MS Web site. The Windows
update does not work (IE 6 will not load except in safe mode) and other
issues on this PC. So I obtained the SP4 download using Firefox and started
the install wizard. It expanded files and has stopped at the "Updating Your
System" screen with the details "Inspecting your current configuration" in
the status area. It's been sitting for quite a while. How long should this
take? Would like to know if this is normal or if system has hung up.

Before starting I scanned for spyware, visruses etc.

In safe mode tried to get IE 6 to go to Windows updates but received:

"file srequired to use windows update are no longer registered or installed
on your computer, to continue-register or reinstall the files not
recommended.."

Trying to find some way to get IE 6 and other issues resolved. Any
suggestion appreciated.
