Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. i am getting this message if i install a new program or something. i searched the net and came up with a solution where it says to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. i can navigate upto control, but i cant see any virtual device drivers there. what can i do? does that mean my harddisk is on bad sector? i m using windows xp media centre edition version 2002 service pack2! -- Message posted via WinServerKB.com http://www.winserverkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/windows-2000-registry/200809/1
Virtual Device Driver Error Message in 16-Bit MS-DOS Subsystem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254914 The article is pretty straight-forward. You'll need to use regedt32.exe. Regedit.exe cannot create Reg_Multi_Sz strings. If you need to recreate the VirtualDeviceDrivers key; highlight the key (in the left-hand pane), then Edit|Delete Then (in the left-hand pane) position the cursor on the "Control" key, (so you'll be creating directly under "Control") then Edit|Add Key, then for the "Key Name:" VirtualDeviceDrivers You can leave the "Class:" blank Then proceed with steps four through seven. Make sure your doing this logged on as local administrator. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Ladies and Gentlemen. I found out that as soon as you install the Symantec live update version 3.4, which can be found and downloaded using the following link http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/home_homeoffice/products/lu/lu/files.html and the problem is solved. It's a symantec issue. Enjoy Yours, German url:http://www.ureader.com/msg/1348651.aspx
