Hello, Does anyone know a technical reason why there are no power management group policy settings in server 2003? Was it just an oversight by Microsoft or something else? Server 2008 has power management GPO's. Are they bakcward compatible with Windows XP? Is there a client that needs to be installed or will it work natively? Thank you

I hear you. I'm not sure why there wasn't a solution for power management until Server 2008. Seems like they didn't see a reason in including it. > Server 2008 has power management GPO's. The Power Options under Preferences\Control Panel Settings however are for Windows XP. If you've already rolled out the Preferences Client Side Extension (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943729), you can give it a try right away. cheers, Florian -- Microsoft MVP - Group Policy eMail: prename [at] frickelsoft [dot] net. blog: http://www.frickelsoft.net/blog.
