Setup licenses on the Windows 2003 License Server
Hi to All,

after registration MSDN AA licences for X devices
I want to add Y user licences. The lic process allows
this, but the latter has status

Not Applicable

There is an error in the Event Viewer pointing to the
license exe file....

Any idea? What is the problem?

TIA
Rgds,
Milos

Re: Setup licenses on the Windows 2003 License Server
The "Not Applicable" is by design.
Per User TS CALs are currently unmanaged, that's why they are
listed as "N/A". You have to keep track of the usage by hand.

This is documented here:

823313 - Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server licensing issues and
requirements for deployment
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823313

Note that you can mix Per Device and Per User TS CALs on a single
TS Licensing server, but each Terminal Server will only be able to
use either Per Device or Per User licenses, not both.

Can you give the EventID and Source of the error in the EventLog?

Vera,

I am sorry for my late response, we have had some server room reconstruction
and there was no network connectivity for some time

Here is info from the Application log:

licmgr.exe,
version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x000000000001093e.

Error ID 1000

and next
The application, C:\OS\system32\licmgr.exe, generated an application error
The error occurred on 02/09/2006 @ 19:57:24.361 The exception generated
was c0000005 at address 000000010001093E (licmgr)

Source Dr Watson
Error ID 4097

and next is again application error

Re: Setup licenses on the Windows 2003 License Server
Assuming that you are running SP1, it seems that you have the
problem described here:

910088 - The Terminal Server Licensing tool may unexpectedly quit
after you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 on a Terminal
Server
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910088
