PC or modem freezing when receiving fax.
I have a company computer to receive fax with internal modem. Since many
years now I have the same problem. When I receive some fax, the PC or the
modem often freeze and worse of all, it don't hang and stay silent until
someone calls back to tell me that it's impossible to send me a fax. The
only thing I can do then is to reboot the computer.

Here is the hardware history since now:
I had a PC with Win98 + USR internal modem working with Symantec Delrina
WinFax Pro. Symantec software freeze until complete reboot.
I changed for a Dell PC with a Dell internal modem using Windows XP
Enterprise Ed. with fax capabilities. PC completely freezes until reset (no
reboot possible).
Then I changed the internal modem with another USR internal modem. PC
doesn't freeze completely but a reboot is necessary.

The PC is connected via a powersurge bar with telephone protection. So I
don't think it's an overvoltage problem.

Could it be some incompatibilities between fax machines that are
unefficiently trying to exchange datas?

Any sggestions are welcomed
Thank you
