Remote assistance behaves like remote desktop
I have one computer in my domain running XP sp2 that when you attempt to use
remote assistance to help the user it behaves like remote desktop. The logon
page will display and if you enter the credentials it will logoff the current
user and log me on exactly like remote desktop. The user does not see any
prompt to grant permission for me to remote assist.

I found a post that indicates this is because
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Value name:
DontDisplayLastUserName is present and set to something other than 0. I
have checked and this value is not present and adding it and setting it to 0
does not help either.

All other computers in the same OU do not have any issues.

Anyone have a solution to this?

Thanks for the help.

I haven't found a solution, but you are not alone. the behavior started when
i installed SP3 on my laptop. most of the desktops i support at on SP2.

you are not alone.
