"Need" is a strong word, but in general, yes, you should download and
install it.
While "don't fix what isn't broken" is generally good advice, when it
comes to security-oriented fixes, it isn't applicable. You are exposed
to security breaches if you don't keep up with the latest Windows
updates.
Whenever anything new comes out, you always hear bad things about it.
People who have problems with it (and there are always some) are the
most vocal, because they are looking for solutions to their problems.
Few people come to these newsgroups, for example, simple to post "I
installed it and it works." But most people who have installed it
(including me) have had no problems with it.

Re: Serv.pk 3
hi, this is just what I needed to hear. I was wondering too like ellivnerg
and cancelled the auto download until I knew what it was about. Then when I
read the problems on microsoft material I wasn't sure. How do you know (and
where to find it) if you have Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit and Remote
Desktop Connection etc. Can I do a restore point before loading and go back
to that point if things go wrong.
Lastly what is the service pack three for exactly. It says service pack 2
already has most of its items. Does service pack 2 need to be deleted once
service pack 3 is installed?
I hope you are still looking in on this and can answer my question.
Thanks
