When you select the file...the path will appear in the 'File' field. 2) The "Input format" field should automatically show..."Apple Quicktime (.mov)" leave it as is... 3) "Output" format has two drop windows... the field on the left will display, "No video preset"...leave it as is... 4) In the next drop window to the right you can choose the format you wish to convert to...try: Audio Video Interleave (.avi) 5) Left click the blue *OK* button. Now...wait for the file to be converted. (be patient) When the conversion is complete you will see: File successfull converted ! John I have a similar problem as Bill. I have a Canon S5IS. When I download the video it is formatted in an avi file. Trouble is the avi files are sooo large (89.6mb) for a 1.30 minute video. I'd like to share the videos with friends and family. I read on another site to Load the file into Windows Movie Maker and save it back out as Windows Media File. I get an error (no device connected) when I try to capture the video. I assume it is not compatable... Please advise if you have other advice.. thnx "John Inzer" wrote: > Bill H B wrote: > > Help...I'm new to this process. > > How can I capture a video from a Panasonic DMC-FX01 with Lumix Simple > > Viewer software to Movie Maker? Another alternative would be to upload your .avi file to the following site and send your recipients the download link. "YouSendIt" http://www.yousendit.com/ All you have to do is enter an e-mail address in the "To:" (Recipient) field and click the "Browse" button to select the file you wish to upload. Then click the "Send It" button. The next screen that appears will give you the download link. Just copy/paste it into the message to your recipients who can download and view the file on their computer. -- John Inzer MS-MVP Digital Media Experience Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk

Anyway...more details might help solve the issue. OK...so the file is saved in a folder on your hard drive and that is where you tried to import it from? When you say "tried to import the file" does that mean you could not import the file? What happens? Errors? What exactly do you mean when you say you "Couldn't save it as a .wmv file" ? Did you save as follows? To save as a .wmv movie file... Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard / Choose...My Computer / Next / Enter a Name and a Save Location / Next / Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer' Next/ Wait while the movie is saved / Finish... -- John Inzer MS-MVP Digital Media Experience Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk
