WIndows Install box flashing
I have the same problem as Dakota in his 12/23/05 "Windows Installer
Problems" post: whenever I start up IE, the Windows Installer box flashes
multiple times with the message "Preparing to install" but does nothing.

I recently had to repair the WinXP Home install on this computer. The
problem started afterwards.

"Ricky" directed Dakota to download the Windows Install Cleanup, which I've
also done. Ricky did not say what exactly to do with it, so the problem
continues.

How do I fix this?

Re: WIndows Install box flashing
It's probably gone into repair mode for something (like a plug-in or add-on
installed with a Windows Installer MSI package). The event log will have
MsiInstaller entries saying something about what's broken. If you use the
Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable/Disable you might be able to disable add-ons
until the dialog goes away when you start IE, finding the culprit.
