Re: KB951748 Security Update Kills Network Connection
I have filled out a MS Help & Support, even though I told them I had
Bullguard installed and I had disabled it, they sent me a message about
ZoneAlarm and closed the call! Unbelievable!
It could be related to Bullguard but, after I disabled it the Windows
Firewall took over and it still didn't work, until I disabled KB951748.
Best leave that one out then.

I just got this machine last month. I had ZA and Windows firewall
running at the same time and had to disable Windows firewall to fix
the situation. ZA and KB951748 work just fine as long as Windows
firewall is inoperable. ZA and Windows firewall do the same thing,
don't they?

No. Zone Alarm is superior to the Windows Firewall in Win XP.
Zone Alarm prevents unauthorized programs from accessing the Internet
without your knowledge. Windows Firewall merely protects against inward
attacks. Furthermore, it is not recommended to run two different
firewalls at the same time.
Zone Labs have released an update to Zone Alarm, which is compatible
with KB951748.

Re: KB951748 Security Update Kills Network Connection
You shouldn't have ZA & Windows firewall running at the same time. When you
install ZA Windows firewall is usually turned off automatically. There was a
known issue with ZA & a windows update and ZA was updated to function
correctly after the update. So just be sure you have the latest version of
ZA.
