Sound driver for XP Pro
After I downgraded two Vista PC’s to XP Pro, I found a plain-jane VGA screen
(800x600/16 colors) and no sound. These PC’s use Intel 845G chipsets. I
downloaded a driver(s) from Intel’s Website. Alas, this didn’t include a
sound driver for this chipset. I installed a spare sound card in one of the
PC’s and all was fine. Before I buy a new sound card, is there any way to
download the correct driver from somewhere? I tried Microsoft twice with no
results.

Besides the chipset drivers, you also need to download and install
the

video card drivers
AC'97 audio drivers.
