I resintall the windows xp professional and getting the"windows could not start because the following file missing or corrupt : windows_root\system32\ hal.dll , pls re-install a copy of the above file I follow MS tech guide to using the bootcfg /rebuild to rebulit the boot.ini file and other suggestion site to delete the boot.ini and rebuild, but still getting the same error message I have one hardisk with 3 partitions and running two different OS. This is my boot.ini config [boot loader] timeout=1 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="xp" multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect Can someone help
Add: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="xp1" multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="xp2" multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS="xp4" and try each. If that doesn't work, are you booting from the correct partition?
