hal.dll missing
I resintall the windows xp professional and getting the"windows could not
start because the following file missing or corrupt :
windows_root\system32\ hal.dll , pls re-install a copy of the above file

I follow MS tech guide to using the bootcfg /rebuild to rebulit the boot.ini
file and
other suggestion site to delete the boot.ini and rebuild, but still getting
the same error message

I have one hardisk with 3 partitions and running two different OS.

This is my boot.ini config

[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="xp"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Can someone help

RE: hal.dll missing
Add:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="xp1"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="xp2"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS="xp4"
and try each.

If that doesn't work, are you booting from the correct partition? If at the
time of install the active partition was not the one you normally boot from,
then the install will have been done incorrectly.
