How Windows decides which drivers to use for DVD burner drive?
Hello,
My dvd burner is exactly the same model as my friend does, at least it is
what Device Manager says:
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B
However,
on my computer the driver for it is provided by Pinnacle Systems GmbH,
but on my friend computer it is provided by Microsoft.
Why is that difference in driver providers: burning dvd software?
If yes, and if someone has several burning software installed in Windows,
which driver will take over?

RE: How Windows decides which drivers to use for DVD burner drive?
Other pc hardware can/will be a factor..Also,if youre friend thinks its a
pinnacle driver, but you think yours is a lowly old windows default driver,
expand the tree for the device in device mgr,R.click, properties, update
driver,
select for "you" to locate driver (install from list),use the "don't
search,i will
choose",uncheck the box for "show compatable hardware",see or locate youre
mfg in the list. Also,a DVD player isnt terribley critical in this
selection,but use
youre better judgement before you select.....
