I understand Microsoft will be ending mainstream support for MCMS 2002 in April 2009. This article talks about extended support till 2014 - http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifean26. Can someone clarify how extended support is different from mainstream support. Thanks.

According to the M$FT MCMS site... "Customer support for CMS 2002 will be offered according to the usual Microsoft support guidelines. Mainstream support remains available for CMS 2002 until January 2008, after which the product enters extended support until January 2013." However according to the Support life-cycle site... "To comply with the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy, Microsoft has announced a support extension for Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Standard Edition and Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 Enterprise Edition. Therefore, Mainstream Support for Content Management Server 2002 will end on April 14, 2009, and Extended Support will end on April 8, 2014."
