Why do I get a 'Restart your computer' msg every time I turn it on   

Every time I boot up my laptop it tells me it is installing driver devices 
software. It then says installation has been successful and that I need to 
restart the computer. The same thing happens over and over every time I 
switch it on.

At the same time I've lost the connection to my printer.

I'm a Mac person so any help with this would b much appreciated!
