VS2005 no dll
My organization's existing Internet presence was built using MCMS 2002
with Visual Studio 2003. We deploy our changes by moving the
generated dll and any changed file assets (local images, stylesheets,
*aspx, *ascx, etc..)

For our Intranet web, we decided to use MCMS 2002 with Visual Studio
2005. I have noticed that no dll is generated when we build the Web
site.

How do you deploy an MCMS web site built using VS2005. Do all files
have to be moved? Or is there a way to generate a dll in VS2005?

Any help is appreciated! Randy

Re: VS2005 no dll
Hi Randel,

it should also create a dll here.

Cheers,
Stefan

We are running MCMS 2002, sp2, asp.net 2.0 with Visual Studio 2005.
When we create the web in VS2005, we select "File-New Web site" and
select "MCMS Web application". When I build however, no dll is
created on my file system.

Is there something I am missing here? has anyone else experienced
this?

thanks. Randy

Re: VS2005 no dll
Yes, we are using code behind files. In addition, I am using class
files in my app_code directory for customizations.

I found the answer. In order to create a dll I need to choose "Build-
Publish Web site". This will create (in the location I specify) a
file structure, including any file assets required for deployment, as
well as any dll's required.

Here's a couple of reference links:
The following article discusses some differences between VS2002/2003
and VS2005 in regards to how the web site is built.
http://odetocode.com/Blogs/scott/archive/2005/11/15/2464.aspx

The above article also mentions the use of the "Web Site Deployment
Project". Here's an article I found discussing it:
