Mailboxes and Information Store
I am a novice when is comes to the Exchange. Why do I need to back up both
the individual mailboxes AND the information store?

Thanks.

Re: Mailboxes and Information Store
Hi,

Most people avoid backup the individual mailboxes. A full backup of the
information store is needed so that you can restore everything in case of a
disaster and to have the transastion logs purged.

Configure deleted items retention time in order for users to be able to
recover deleted items should they regret they deleted some items.

Re: Mailboxes and Information Store
Thanks for you reply. So what you are telling me is, if I lose anything, I
can restore ALL mailboxes, public folders, etc. with just the the backup of
the Information Store? If this is the case, then I can uncheck all mailboxes
and public folders in my Veritas Backup selection and just have the
Information Store backed up. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Re: Mailboxes and Information Store
Hi,

That is correct, if you backup the information store you have a backup of
all exchange data. See this:
