Exchange 2000 Server locking up
I had a general question with Exchange 2000. We have exchange on a separate
server with 3 DCs. If one of the DCs were to go offline, would that
typically affect the exchange server? We've had one DC where exchange
resided on but was moved. No one was able to access exchange on several
occasions when that DC went down. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Re: Exchange 2000 Server locking up
Hi,

If Exchange is installed on a DC, exchange will only use that DC as domain
controller. That is another reason why it is not recommended to have
exchange installed on a DC.

I am not sure if this answers your question?

Re: Exchange 2000 Server locking up
Thanks for your help. I think I may have figured out why. One of the DCs we
were looking to shutdown in the near future is the GC which seems to explain
everything.

Re: Exchange 2000 Server locking up
make sure all the dc's are global catalog servers and you wont have a
problem.
