NSPI Proxy and RFR interface
Hi My Exchange 2000 server on Windoes 2000 OS has recently been logging msgs
about my global catalog server not being available. (Event ID 9076, 9057 and
9043) I have 2 exchange servers, each at a different site but only one global
catalog server. I have demoted my original GC server and then promoted it
again but this is not working. I've searched technet and I;ve tried various
solututions besides promoting the other exchange suerver. My pre-outlook 2003
clients are having problems connecting. Are there any suggestions or possible
solutions--

Re: NSPI Proxy and RFR interface
Hi,

With 2 exchange servers in 2 different sites you really should have more
than one global catalog server. Maybe not because of load on these servers
but for fault tolerance reasons you should have at least one GC in each
site.

Are there any events logged on the domain controller that could indicate
AD/GC problems?

Don't promote an exchange server. It is not supported to run dcpromo on an
exchange server - this will most likely break exchange.
