Delayed Message Deliver & Inetinfo.exe High CPU Usage
Hi,

I'm seeing an issue on an Exchange 2000 SP3 server (running on Win 2000 SP4,
F-Secure File & Email AV, everything fully updated via WSUS) that I can't
find a solution for, and I was hoping someone would be able to help me please?
After installing some Windows updates recently (KB899588, KB896727,
KB890830, KB899587, KB899591, KB896423, KB901214 & KB893756) everything
seemed Ok initially, but we quickly started seeing delayed message delivery
in Exchange on incoming, outgoing & internal mail of between 10 & 15 minutes.
Using the Message Tracking Centre, I can see that the mail is being held
after being submitted to the Categorizer, a sample log would be;

02/09/2005 10:30	SMTP: Message Submitted to Advanced Queuing
02/09/2005 10:30	SMTP: Started Message Submission to Advanced Queuing
02/09/2005 10:30	SMTP: Message Submitted to Categorizer
02/09/2005 10:40	SMTP: Message Delivered Locally to *********@**********
02/09/2005 10:40	SMTP Store Driver: Message Delivered Locally to Store to
*********@**********

Some mail still seems to be progressing though the server at the normal pace
(few seconds to a minute), although very, very little of it is going this
quickly.
While I was investigating this I found that inetinfo.exe is using 50%, or 1
whole thread, on the CPU (which is a hyper-threaded Xeon) – I think it may be
related, being part of IIS??

There are no errors in the system or application logs which seem related,
all services are starting OK & normally. There don’t seem to be any other
issues on the server, and prior to the updating everything was fine…

I’m at a bit of a loss to fix this, if anyone can give me any help or
pointers, I’d really appreciate it :-)

Thanks in advance for any help,
Thanks,
Chris

RE: Delayed Message Deliver & Inetinfo.exe High CPU Usage
I forgot to add, that the messages are being held in the 'Messages waitign to
be routed' queue on the SMTP Virtual Server in Exchange!

Thanks again,
Chris
