It would be useful to know the domain name for the remote domain in order to see how the records are structured. Some people have reported unreliable or delayed deliver to some domains when their firewall prevents TCP connections to their DNS server. In this case you should configure your Exchange server to use UDP only. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;820284 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;884421 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;263237 -- Please do not send email directly to this alias. It's not a DNS problem.. I checked with "nslookup" and ist OK. I telnet to port 25 by IP Address and OK. I telnet by FQDN and OK. What else can i check? Thanks.
From your original message, it appears that there is nothing wrong with mail flow once a SMTP connection is established. (The log entries you appended indicated successful delivery.) The likely cause of that problem has to do with establishing a connection or locating the remote server. This is usually DNS related but may have other causes. Try increasing your logging level in transport and see if the service reports anything useful. In Exchange System Manager, right-click on your server. Select "Properties" Select the "Diagnostics Logging" tab Select the service, "MSExchangeTransport" Increase the logging level of all categories to "Maximum" Send a test message to the problem domain and determine if it is stuck. Check the event logs to see if transport reported anything. You can also examine the server queues if it is in retry and it may give you a reason for failure. At the bottom of your queue viewer window there is a text area labeled "Additional queue information." Select the queue for the problem domain and see if this text area indicates what the problem may be. The following article contains these troubleshooting steps and more. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;257265 -- Please do not send email directly to this alias.
