Exchange 2000/2003 SMTP and NLB or Clustered Relay Servers
I have an Exchange 2003 server and two Windows 2003 IIS mail relays running
GFI Mail Essentials v11. Mail relay 1 both sends and receives mail from the
Internet. Mail Relay 2 is configured to send out mail, but is not used. The
two relays are on different subnets.

How can I configure Exchange 2003 to use both relays for outbound mail? I
can't use NLB, since they are on two subnets. I can't set up a Windows 2003
IIS cluster, due to the same problem. I looked into setting up a DNS Round
Robin, but because they are on two different subnets, local subnet
prioritization takes precedence over DNS round Robin, and RR will not work.

GFI does not support any sort of NLB or cluster.

Is there anything I can do? right now, mail is set to leave the Exchange
server's SMTP connection and hit the hard coded IP address of a relay server.

If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate hearing them.

Thanks.

Doug
