Monitoring Performance of SMTP Queues
A couple of questions:
What is a good way to monitor throughput of an Exchange Server? I'm looking
for messages received & messages sent per second ( or hour or day......).
One other post I found when researching this subject suggested using W2K
Performance Monitor>SMTP Server>Messages Sent, etc. The SMTP Server parameter
is missing from my Performance Monitor. Please advise.

Is there some place that references the given maximum throughput for various
hardware combinations? When we made the upgrade from 5.5 to E2K, the hardware
sizing was by the seat of my pants. Luckily, I seem to have done OK, but as I
prepare for another upgrade to newer hardware and Exchange 2003, I'd like to
have some numbers to submit to management.

As always, thanks in advance for all the wonderful advice!
