problem with removing Exchange 2000   
Hi,
While ago I Installed a new Ex2003 and moved all mailboxes and roles to this 
new server. Now its time to uninstall the old ex2000, but when I try it, it 
says there are still some mailboxes there. I have 2 mailboxes which are not 
belong to any users. I had a database coruption a few years ago, and these 2 
mailboxes from that problem. I cannot purge them if I right click on them. Is 
there any way to fix this issue or get rid of these mailboxes?

Hi,

Is purge greyed out? If yes this would normally mean that there is a user 
behind the mailbox.

Use active directory users and computers and search for all users with 
mailboxes on that server, from here you should be able to delete the users 
and after that uninstall the server.

No it is not greyed out. But if I try purge, it wont do anything. As I said 
those 2 mailboxes just left behind and are not belong to any users. those 2 
users have  new mailboxes on new exchange 2003. Is there anyway to get rid of 
those 2 mailboxes?

Hi,

You don't get any error messages on the screen or in the application log 
when trying to purge these mailboxes?

I would try to search AD for users with mailboxes on this server anyway - 
just to make sure.

If that doesn't find anything you could try to repair the database using 
eseutil /p

Well those mailboxes are not belong to anybody. and I did repair:
Initiating REPAIR mode...
        Database: d:\mdbdata\priv1.edb
  Streaming File: d:\mdbdata\priv1.STM
  Temp. Database: TEMPREPAIR3060.EDB

Checking database integrity.

and still I cannot purge those 2 mailboxes, nothing happens after I select 
purge, and no error in event viewer.

Any idea?

Hi,

Just to make sure. There are no other "live" mailboxes in the store. You 
have checked using the article from my previous post?

Search using active directory users and computers and move/delete everything 
you meet.
