we currently have an Exchange 2003 SP1 server that's only running the Internet Mail connector. we want to now make it a front-end server (for setting up and configured OWA/VPN authentication)........my question, although the option box is there to switch it to a front-end server, a) can a front end server also run the IMC? and b) if so, are there any config changes that need to be made? Thx, J.
Hi, A front-end server can run a SMTP connector with no configuration changes. You will however need to keep the information store service running and have the mailbox store mounted as SMTP needs a mailbox to be able to create NDR's.
