Second E2K
I have a Win2K domain with 3 DCs. One of the DC is also E2K server. Is it
fine to setup another DC as another exchange 2000 server on the same domain?
Idea is if first mail server goes dead, I can manually import the backed up
PSTs into this ready to go mail server. Any issues? Any other suggestions?
TIA.

No, you can't just import exmerged PSTs and get cracking.

Let us know what level of resiliency you want to achieve. Also, why 3
DCs? How many users and how many sites have you got?

Re: Second E2K
Thanks Mark,
We have two sites. In head office I got one File server and one mail server.
On remote site I have third DC. I use a third party software to sync data in
real time(including exchange data) to third offsite DC. I made it DC so AD is
also available offsite. For the purpose of DRBC, if my main site is
unavailable, users can make VPN conneciton to this remote server and latest
data is already there. Exchange edb and log files are also available on the
offisite server and I also have utilities to extract PSTs from them. So what
I am thinking is -- If I can also install E2K on this remote server and in
case of disaster I can import PSTs into this database (being a DC all the
user accounts are already there). Change MX to this server and BOOM users are
back in business. Please let me know what I am missing in this plan.
Data ofcouse is critical but in case of disaster we can wait a day so I am
not planning upgrade to advanced server for clustering. Thanks again.
