Removing Exchange 2000 to run adprep
Hi !!!

Is there anybody who have successfully removed Exchange 2000 from a Windows
2000 Server Domain Controller before running adprep to upgrade the forest to
Windows Server 2003 ???

Before trying to run adprep to upgrade my existing win2000 forest, I removed
all the mailboxes from the AD and deinstalled Exchange (with add/remove
programs) and all went OK... I think.

Now, when running adprep /forestprep, I have this error message : There is a
schema conflict with Exchange 2000. The schema is not upgraded.

Now I can say that Exchange didn't completely removes itself. When I look in
the schema with the Active Directory Schema snap-in, I found lots and lots of
Exchange related classes and attributes.

I tried to run update /removeorg from the Exchange 2000 CD and it gives me
this error message : A problem has been encountered in the Microsoft Exchange
Forest Preparation setup component.

Is there a way to remove (automatically or by hand) the schema entries that
Exchange 2000 has created at the installation ???

Hi,

You can't remove any changes to the schema (exchange or otherwise).

That should however not present a problem. Exchange 2000 can and will run in
a windows server 2003 domain as long as the exchange server itself is a
windows 2000 server.
