Message Tracking with Subject
Hi all,
does anyone have any experience as to whether including the subject in
Exchange message tracking (Exchange 2000 SP2) has any significant
overhead as far as the size of the logs is concerned?

For one of our bridgehead servers we have around 400MB of logs without
the subject. Is this likely to increase significantly if we switch on
the option to include the message subject?

Many thanks

Regards

Graeme

The tracking logs are all in plain-text (although not easy to read).
I opened one in Notepad, and the first message log occupies some 270
characters (including tabs), of which the subject uses 37 characters.
This is a rough estimate, of course, but based on that, I would say
that including the subject will increase the size of the logs by
approx. 16% . If you really needed a better estimate, you can do a
similar experiment, but using more logged lines.

Lee.
