Exchange Memory Optimization "System Pages"
Dear TechNet,

I have a server with 2GB of memory with Win2k3 St SP1 and Exchange 2003 Ent
SP2 installed. I read the article 815372 about memory optimization, what I
did so far is as folows:

1. I have edit the boot.ini for USERVA and /GB switch as folows

ulti(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Standard"
/fastdetect /3GB /USERVA=3030 /NoExecute=OptIn

I'm not sure if the /NoExecute=OptIn should be there or not??

2. I modified the registry value for HeapDeCommitFreeBlockThreshold to
0x00040000 as steated in the KB article.

3. Well since the event log message still didnt disepear I also changet the
SystemPages to 0. Which I read that shoud be used only when you have 3GB of
memory ore more and for Win2k, my mistake. However there is also a note in
the article that for Win2k3 st ent it should have a value of 0. Unfortunatly
I didn't make a backup of the registry so I don't now the default value, if
needs to be changet back to default can you tell me the default value please.

From the moment when I configure the SystemPages to 0 the event log message
desepear, so I asume the memory configuration was corect.

Can you please confirm that my configuration is OK. In adtion I'm going to
add adition 1GB of memory to my server is there anything else required to be
done for 3GB.

Re: Exchange Memory Optimization "System Pages"
Download and run the Exchange Best Practice Analyzer, it will check your
configuration and if anything is incorrectly configured or not optimal it
will flag it and provide a link for further instructions:

Here's the link to the Exchange Server Best Practices Analyzer Tool:
