Moving exchange 2000
Hello,

It's time to replace a windows 2000 server at the office.

I have a new server running windows 2000 and I want to move exchange from
the old server to the new server so I can retire the old machine.

Can you guide me on the steps that are Necessary to achive this.

I have a full back up and a backup of the information store
Do I need to set up the new server with the same computer name?

Tank you

Pat

Re: Moving exchange 2000
Hello,

thanks for the info,

the article talks about dcpromo. The curent exchange server is installed on
a member server and the new server is going to be a member server ae well.
Do I need to make it a Dc controller in order to bring up the new server as
 tne new exchange server?

Thanks for all the help.

Re: Moving exchange 2000
Hi,

You don't need to make the new server a domain controller. The article
covers moving exchange servers running on both member servers and domain
controllers. You should pick the appropiate for you.
