Exchange 2003 setup?
I am installing the first Exchange 2003 server in my domain. I have run all
of the prerequisite programs and installed Exchange 2003 but I have not been
able to locate a good document on setting it up. I know there has to be more
to do than just install it. I have been looking on Microsoft’s web site but
have not been able to find a procedure for setting up Exchange 2003. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. The managers are getting restless.

Outside of the basic info at microsoft.com/exchange, it's hard to know how
to help you as you haven't mentioned what your experience level with
Exchange is, what your network/company configuration is, or what your
managers and users expect of it.

Some good sites:

www.swinc.com
www.msexchange.org

And there are tons of books out there ....I do suggest you play with this in
a test environment before deploying it to your company, or get more
experienced hands to help you out with it.

Re: Exchange 2003 setup?
Can Exchange Server 2003 be setup without using a domain on Windows 2003
Server? We currently do NOT have a domain implemented on this part of
our network. Although, we do want to utilize some of the features
within Exchange 2003 and still using Pop3 addresses in individual
employees Outlooks. Is this possible?

Sorry for the newb questions!

Joel

No, you need a domain.

Yes, but why on earth would you want to do that? Don't....it's a mess to
administer and use.

No problem. However, if you plan to implement Exchange, I do suggest you get
an experienced consultant in who can help out with AD, DNS, Exchange, and
all the other stuff that goes along with it. There's a lot to know, and a
lot one can inadvertently break.
