Installing first Exchange2003 into Exchange 2000 enviroment
Hello,

I have 2 Exchange 2000 servers runing in a Windows 2000 active directory.
If i want to add an Exchange 2003 server into this do i also need to run the
following two commands from the Windwos 2003 server CD:

ADPrep /forestprep
ADPrep /domainprep

Thanks,
Jan -

No, not if you aren't installing a W2003 DC - those commands are run to
prepare the domain/forest for a W2003 domain controller. If this is just a
member server, you can just install/patch it, join the domain....

Hi,

In addition to Lanwench's reply you will need to run Exchange setup
/forestprep and /domainprep.

Re: Installing first Exchange2003 into Exchange 2000 enviroment
Thanks Lanwench and Leif,

Would it be better to make a Windows 2003 doman controller when running
Exchange 2003,
or in another way, will i loose any features in Exchange 2003 if i keep a
Windows 2000 server
as domain controller ?.

Hi,

The only feature that you won't have is rpc over http as this feature must
use a windows 2003 GC.
