Hi, A client of mine has two locations, Toronto and London (UK). They currently have Windows 2000 server and Exchange 2000 running at the Toronto site and I am assuming Window 2000 server at the London site if they have one. The London users are currently using POP3 to receive their emails. They are planning to setup a site-to-site VPN connection. If both servers are in different domain, would the London users able to connect to the Exchange server in Toronto. Thank you.
Hi, Yes, as long as they have a valid username / password in the Toronto site and a mailbox on the exchange server. Hi Leif, If my client wants to install Exchange 2003 in the London site, do they need to purchase new CALs? And would this work with Exchange 2000 in Toronto? Assuming they had the VPN connection setup and the London's Windows 2003 server acts as a member server in the 2000 AD domain in Toronto? Thanks. Joseph
Hi, I believe that they would need to buy new CAL's but I am not working much with licensing so much better ask a reseller about this. Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 can work together in the same domain without any issues. Hi Leif, Thank you for your response. Just a quick question regarding replication between the two, will this be done automatically or I need to set this up manually. Thanks. Joseph
Hi, Not sure what you mean by replication. You will need to configure replication of public folders manually. There is no replication of user mailboxes, but mailflow between mailboxes located on the 2 servers should happen automatically.
