OWA pages damaged when switching to front-end server ?
Hi,

I have a very wierd problem on a couple of Exchange 2003 servers.....

Due to several reasons, the original setup is being replaced with a new
back-end and front-end server.

The old setup was Win2003/Exch2003 as backend, and Win2000/Exch2003 as
front-end

The new setup is based on Win2003/Exch2003.

Mailboxes have been moved from the old back-end to the new back-end - no
problem there (the old OWA front-end can still access the mailboxes)...

The wierd part is the new front-end server ....

Installing it into the orginasation is no problem.. Connecting to OWA on it
right after install also works perfect. Then I change the server to fron-end
(server properties), and reboot the front-end server. When I connect to the
front-end after the reboot, the OWA interface is not working properly, and I
get a lot of errors/page not found, if I click on some of the links....

Any idea what is the problem ?

Hi,

The front-end server is not running with sp2 installed and the back-end
server with sp1, right??

If they are this is the problem:

" The current Exchange 2003 SP2 update does not include the SP1 OWA web
controls. Thus if you set up a new front end server and update it to
SP2 withouth installing SP1 first, it will not work with a SP1 back end
server. When trying to use the premium client, you'll get an ugly
screen that just has some broken buttons and a Loading... text.

The fix seems to be to simply copy over the controls from a machine
that ever had SP1 applied. The controls are in \Program
Files\Exchsrvr\exchweb\6.5.7226.0

I've tried several combinations...

Backend is running SP1
Front end has been tried with no SP, SP1 and SP2 - all 3 setup seem to
behave the same way (that is why it is so confusing)...

Okay - copying the controls from a "working" server seemed to do the trick..
Thanks ;-)
