OWA Setup
Hello,

Our company is using Exchange Server 2000, and I am trying to setup OWA. I
am not sure where to start. I have searched for documentation from TechNet
but have had little success in finding a good source for setting up OWA. Can
someone point me in the right direction or let me know where I can find a
good source that shows how to setup OWA from start to finish?

Thanks,

Leo

Re: OWA Setup
I have already gotten this far on OWA. I am needing information more on
customizing it to where I can always have a user supply their username and
password in order to logon regardless of who is logged on to the PC. Also,
ways to access the exchange server externally like assigning a default page
so that users do not have to type http://servername/exchange....

Thanks for your help.

Re: OWA Setup
Hi,

In order for OWA to request the user to logon you enable basic
authentication and remove integrated and basic authentication from the
Exchnage virtuel directory.

This should help make Exchange the default web site -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319878

Re: OWA Setup
Awsome!!

Another thing I am trying to do is customize the logon page option. Instead
of just having a pop up for the user to enter username and password, I know
there is a way to customize an OWA logon page. However, when trying to access
the properties of the default website the system notifies me that I need to
control the changes in IIS. What am I missing?

Thanks,

Leo

Re: OWA Setup
Hi,

The users will have to authenticate to the server using basic
authentication.

Re: OWA Setup
Hello,

Where I am trying to get to is something similar to the option in Exchange
Server 2003. This logon page shows both the username and password to logon
to OWA.

Also,

What would be the best way to setup access outside of our network? The way
in which I am thinking of setting it up is to have a domain name (ex. my
exchange server name is "MainServer". I want to point a url such as
"MailServer"). Would I need to add any DNS entries on the exchange server?
Register the domain name with our ISP? Basically what would be the process?

Thanks,

Re: OWA Setup
Hello,

I am able to access OWA by entering my server name. However, I am trying to
access OWA by entering the server IP address in which I am not having any
success. I am trying to find out where it is in exchange or IIS that
determines how I can access OWA by entering http://ipaddress/. Can anyone
assist?

Thanks,

Leo
