Hi,

I'll migrate a client's Exchange Server 5.5 in a NT4 domain to Exchange
2003
(and Windows 2003) in a AD Domain (users are migrated using ADMT).

Please, tell me if I'm right in my migration plans:

-I'll buy a new hardware for the new server and install in it Windows
2003
(the old hardware is obsolete)
-Create in Exchange 5.5 the AD conector
-Install Exchange 2003 in the new server and during installation tell
it
that the users and mailboxes are being migrated from a NT4 domain (with
sid
history)
-Since this point the Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2003 would coexist, and

users Outlooks could point to one or to the other, accesing their
mailboxes
without problems
-then progresively I would migrate the mailboxes from the exchange 5.5
to
the 2003 in a reasonable lapse of time.
-When all the mailboxes would be migrated, I could demote the exchange
5.5
server"

---------------------
I have a similar situation

- NT 4 domain, Exchange 5.5 SP4 on "DOMAIN A"
- Separate Win 2003 AD Domain Controller config'd for "DOMAIN B"
- Windows 2003 Server w/ Exchange 2003 on "DOMAIN B"
- Trust in between domains.

I have the same desire to progressively move users over, then when all
is finished, drop "DOMAIN A" and have users log into DOMAIN B network
as well as the new Exchange 2003 server in Domain B.

Question is: when installing Exchange 2003, do i use COEXISTENCE WITH
EXCHANGE 5.5 option, correct?

Lastly, if the original poster of the above email is reading this,
please reply privately to bcabalic@gmail.com i would like to ask you a
few questions about how this migration went.

Also, if you have attempted a simliar migration, feel free to reply
with any feedback or questions of your own.

Thanks for your time,

Re: Exchange 5.5 / 2003 Coexistence & Migration?
Hi,

It is possible to install Exchange 2003 into the same organization as your
existing exchange 5.5 server and thus keep coexsistance while migrating
users at your desired pace.
