Hi, I am reading through the document by Microsoft, "Planning an Exchange Server 2003 Messaging System." In the article, it mentioned something about storage group. May I knwo what does MS means? Below is an extract, An example disk configuration is as follows: C:\ System and boot (mirror set) D:\ Page file E:\ Transaction log files for storage group 1 (mirror set) F:\ Transaction log files for storage group 2 (mirror set) G:\ Database files for both storage groups (multiple drives configured as hardware stripe set with parity Is it a compulsory to have 2 storage groups in Exchange? Hi, You can only have multiple storage groups on an exchange enterprise edition server (where you can have 4 storage groups each with 5 databases). In an standard edition exchange server there can be only one storage group consisting of 2 databases - one for public folders and one for mailboxes. A storage group is simply a collection of exchange databases sharing one set of transaction logs.
