Removing the First Exchange Server for an Oraganization
I've recently installed and setup an Exchange Server 2003. Successfully
tranfered any user mailboxes onto the new server. Also, I've setup the
relication of all public folders, free + busy, and offline address list for
the new server. The new server has also been set to be the master. However,
I am unable to remove the the existing Exchange Server 2000 from the
organization. The error I recieve is the "Exchange cannot be removed at this
time. Mailboxes still exist on this server. Either move these mailboxes or
disable the mail enabled mailboxes." Upon, investigating the error, I
discovered three mailboxes on the existing server. The system mailbox,
system attendant mailbox, and smtp mailbox. These boxes all belong to the
NTAuthority/System account. Can anyone assist me in getting these boxes
moved onto the new server or assist in getting the existing server retired
permanently?

Thanks in Advance.......

Re: Removing the First Exchange Server for an Oraganization
These are not the mailboxes that the error is referring too. Most likely
you still have some users with Exhange Attributes of the Exchange 2000
Server in AD. Go to ADUC right click your domain and select Find. In the
Find drop down box select Exchange Recipients. On the Storage Tab select
Mailboxes on this server and choose your Exchange 2000 Server and then hit
Find Now. What are your results?
