Hi all, We are currently running Windows 2000 with SP4 and Exchange 2000. Only one server with AD in it because we are just a small shop. I am planning to upgrade to Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003. We cannot afford to get a new hardware so I will attempt to do an inplace upgrade. I already exported our mailboxes and public folders into PST files and we also have a backup on the brick level just in case. My question is how is regarding the steps on how to do this upgrade. Do I upgrade Windows 2003 first? Then after that upgrade Exchange 2003? Is it that straight forward? Thanks in advance, Al
1. Upgrade to Exchange 2003 First. 2. Upgrade to Windows 2003 Last. Do not forget to check for any third party software to insure it runs on Exchange 2003 and Windows 2003 before upgrading. Also, do not forget to apply the latest Service Packs for both. -- John Oliver, Jr. MCSE, MCT, CCNA, Exchange MVP Microsoft Certified Partner "al" wrote in message news:vymNe.1185$L03.214@newssvr27.news.prodigy.net... > Hi all, > We are currently running Windows 2000 with SP4 and Exchange 2000. > Only one server with AD in it because we are just a small shop. > I am planning to upgrade to Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003. > We cannot afford to get a new hardware so I will attempt to do an inplace > upgrade. > I already exported our mailboxes and public folders into PST files and we > also have a backup on the brick level just in case. > My question is how is regarding the steps on how to do this upgrade. > Do I upgrade Windows 2003 first? > Then after that upgrade Exchange 2003? > Is it that straight forward? > Thanks in advance, > Al > >

And do a backup before applying the service packs. Sp1 for Win2003 killed one of my customer's servers last week. -- Jobs nationwide and especially jobs in Dayton Ohio USA http://www.tincher.to/
