I hope someone can help me with this...I recently added an Exchange 2000 enterprise box to my 5.5 site, and then moved all the mailboxes over to the new ex2k box....I just noticed that the deleted items retention was defaulted to 0 days...We had this set to a rather large number on the 5.5 server. I just changed it to what we want, but, did I just lose a ton of deleted emails? Thanks for ANY INFO on this issue Russell
Hi, When you move a mailbox you don't move the items in the deleted items cache so these will be lost. Hi Leif, thanks for the info. What about the original Exchange 5.5 Server?...I see that the Priv.edb is still the same size....I know that it will not reduce unless I run a utility, but are the deleted items still in this database? Also, I have a back up of the 5.5 server from the night before the move. It is both a database and a brick level back up....Can I restore this info (brick level) to the EX2K server? Is there any way to recover those deleted items? Thanks ! Russell
Hi, I am pretty sure that there is nothing to do - see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;195490 Leif skrev i en meddelelse news:1123171635.214087.208850@o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com... > Hi Leif, thanks for the info. Hi Again...I read this article, and it looks grim....I am still wondering about a few things..I use CA Arcserve to back up Exchange, and it has a brick level option that I used for the final back up before the move to ex2k....It seems that I might be able to restore a mailbox from the brick level back to the original 5.5 server to get the deleted items? I will probably need to access the docs on the Arcserve to fully understand its abiblities...
