Hi, I have an ex5.5 org with 3 sites in 3 domains. I have upgraded the main office/domain to W2K3 and am in proccess of upgrading the first ex5.5 svr to ex2000. I have set up a new box with W2KadvSvr, and I have set up ADC with a recipient CA to the ex5.5 svr. I am about to run setup /forestprep and then /domainprep. I know that I need to set up a public foder CA also...I tried to set it up first, but got an error: need to run /forestprep first... is this true? Can someone help me with the proper order of installing these items?, and when to install ex2000 on the first box? Also, what about the other 2 5.5 sites? Do I need to set up CAs for these now, or when I upgrade those sites to ex2000? I am a little confused as to the order of things here...ANY help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
Hi, This article explains in what order things should be installed: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=316886 It shouldn't be necessary to run exchange setup /forestprep before creating ADC connection agreements. You will need to create connection agreements to all 5.5 sites in order for the 2000 mailbox users to see all 5.5 users in the global address book. Lief, Thanks for the info...I am using the Article you mentioned. I was unclear on whether to add a CA for the other sites, and you answered that for me... 1. do I set up the CAs for the other sites at the same time (right before actual install) as when I set up the ones for the local site (the site I am adding a ex2k to current 5.5)? 2. I am a little confused on how many CAs are required for each 5.5 site..it looks like 2, but maybe 3 ? 1. Recipient CA 2. Public Folder CA 3. any others? Thanks for Help ! Russell
