system folder replication not showing "in sync"
I've been following the instructions in this article
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307917

trying to rehome the system folders (not public folders) to a new exchange
2000 server. I did the first step of adding a new server for replication and
am stuck at instruction number 1i. waiting to see if the target server is in
sync. Ever since I added the target server to the replication list two days
ago, it has been saying "local modified" as its syncronization status. We
don't have a very big organization and in two days we could easily have
transfered the entire contents of the server ten times over. I assume this
means that the syncronization is not working.

I'm hoping for suggestions on how to check the progress of the
syncronization and what might be the trouble.

both servers are running windows 2000 server and exchange 2000 server.

RE: system folder replication not showing "in sync"
It might also be important to note that the source exchange server, that is
the one i'm trying to get rid of, is a domain controller, however, the new
server is not.

I also noticed that the source exchange server which also runs dns for the
entire site did not have it self listed as its dns in the network
configuration. could this be part of the problem?

Another piece of evidence: if you open the exchange system manager on the
target server, nothing shows up under admin groups / "groupname" / folders/
public folders. if you right click on "public folders" and choose "connect
to" there are no options of servers to connect to.
