unable to send mail from new Exchange 2000 server
We've installed a second server into our existing Exchange
organization, but users are unable to send any email from mailboxes
that are moved to the new server. The sent mail just hangs in the
outgoing queue until it times out. They can receive email just fine
from the internet and the internal org. I've checked the server and
SMTP settings and can't see where this is misconfigured. Any ideas?

Re: unable to send mail from new Exchange 2000 server
Hi,

Is there an open port 25 in the firewall for this server?

If the first server is going to stay you could create a SMTP connector on
this server (using this servers default SMTP server only). In this way you
would force all internet mails to go thru the first server.

Re: unable to send mail from new Exchange 2000 server
We ended up creating the SMTP Connector and this fixed the problem.
The first server will be decommissioned and rebuilt for Exch 2003
Enterprise. I'm hoping this problem doesn't come back to haunt us when
we take the first server down. Thanks for your help!
