Stores on Front-End server
I have got a FE Exchange server that used to host mailboxes and public
stores, that were moved to a BE server. All replicas have been removed from
the FE server.

The front end server will be accepting smtp mail from the internet so will
need a store.

According to the docs on Configuring a FE server,(page 60 Exchange Server
2003 Front-End and Back-End Topology) this only needs one store, and if I
create a mailbox store it requires a public store as well. Do I point this
PS to a BE servers public store?

Using Exchange servers 2003 SP1.

Dismount and delete the PF store. You don't need a PF store on an FE
if you're using it as a bridgehead. As you have read, you do need the
MB store loaded but an MB store does not mean you have to have a
public store. No users can be homed on that MB store.

Re: Stores on Front-End server
Thanks.

I had a problem when the PF SG was there with no PF store in it. Any mail to
a PF was not being deleiverd to the BE store.
Fixed now.
