Error 0x80072030
Cannot uninstall Exchange 2000. I am getting the 0x80072030 error, and have
visited the KB articles referenced in earlier posts. All of the appropriate
Exchange Security Groups are and always have been in the Users container. We
now have an Exchange 2003 server running on W2k3 as our main mail server, so
I just need to remove the old Exch2k server from the organization. When I
run setup, I get the error above, and this appears in the log:

[14:08:25] ScPRQ_ServerIsNotHomeServerForPostmasterOfNonEmptyOrg

I'd prefer not to uninstall manually so no junk from Exch2k remains in AD.
As I said, I have reviewed the previous articles on this error, but this
seems to be different...

Re: Error 0x80072030
Hi,

If this is the last server in the organization and this server has to be
reformatted anyway you can use the removeorg command to remove the complete
Exchange organization from AD:

Re: Error 0x80072030
Thanks Leif:

Unfortunately, it's not the last server in the org. It is not a big deal to
uninstall Exch2000 manually using the directions in KB260378, but I wanted to
see if there was a way to do it more cleanly so as not to leave garbage in
AD. If I do uninstall the Exch2000 server manually, leaving my existing
Exch2003 alone, do I have to be concerned with leftover junk in AD? All
roles and PFs have been transferred to the new server.
