We have a mailbox in the organization that is receiving mail, but the mailstore itself cannot be found in ADS or System Manager. Initially I thought it was a secondary address so that it would resolve to an exchange recipient's primary address, but this is not the case because when i type the address in the "To" field in Outlook, it doesnt resolve to anything. I can send with the delivery and read receipt and even track the message in the tracking center and all i get is that it was delivered successfully to that mailbox. I cant even create an outlook profile for this mystical account. We upgraded from Exchange 2k to 2003 a few months ago. After the upgrade I did notice that some of the mailboxes didnt move to the 2003 platform and we had to consult a Microsoft person to run a utility that move the mailboxes from 2000 to 2003. I dont know what that tech did. Can anybody help with this. Thanks
Figured it out. the email address was associated with a Public Folder, therefore it has no indpendent identity.
