RE: Can't find Exchange PerfMon Object/Counter
Hi Jim,
Though "Current Sessions" view in ESM and PerfMon do not use the same
interface to monitor SMTP service. "Current Sessions" shows the detail
connection info of the corresponding SMTP virtual server from Exchange
server's perspective, and you can even manually terminate the connection in
this pane. The PerfMon monitors the volume of SMTP connections from the
OS's perspective, and it can only provide the number of connections. So, in
this word, there does not exist a category corresponding with "Current
Session" in PerfMon.
Based on my test, the "SMTP Server"/"Inbound/Outlound Connection Current"
category does indicate the volume of inbound SMTP connection of this
server. For example, if there are 5 inbound connections listed in "Default
SMTP VS"/"Connection Sessions" tab in ESM, then you will also see 5 inbound
connections in PerfMon.
If this is not the case, please describe the problem you encounter more
detail. The connection counters in ESM and PerfMon do not much? Or PerfMon
does not count connections at all?
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Pat Cai
