SINKS to be discontinued?
Hi all,

I just read http://www.aloaha.com/wi-software-en/antispam-news.php

Is it true that SINKS are being disontinued? That would mean that I have to
re-evaluate all the AntiSPAM and and Security products I tested the past
weeks.

Is there are list of Products available which

a) do not rely on SINKS
b) do support VSAPI

Thanks in advance
Stefan

Re: SINKS to be discontinued?
I had not read this, but it is not real surprising. However, there will be
an equivilent technology that takes its place, you can be sure. And, any
product that you are currently evaluating will be updated to use the new
technology. This will only affect Exchange 12 and later, though, and we
really are not going to need to worry about Exchange 12 for another year,
possibly 18 months or longer.

Re: SINKS to be discontinued?
Looking at the presentation from PDC, I gather store and transport events
are being "de-emphasized", not "cut" (as some things are). De-emphasized
APIs will be supported through the lifetime of Exchange 12. Also, there's
"new managed code SMTP stack designed from the start for extensiblity".

You can draw your own conclusions... and as Jim stated, you won't have to
worry about it for 12-18 months.

I love the way the vendors spin news like this. The de-emphasised
API's will be supported for ten years (after the next release of
Exchange). You'll have plenty of time to select new vendors and to
evaluate the new software from the old vendors.

Lots. They're applications that aren't Exchange.

>b) do support VSAPI

Sybari Antigen is one. I'm sure there are many others.
