Virus Scan using online scanner
Hi,

I have inherited 4 servers with no virus protection on them (the
clients themselves have protection) and one of the servers is running
Exchange Server 2000.

I am wondering if I can run one of the free online virus scanners (such
as the one on TrendMicro's site) on these computers including the
exchange server? I would be able to shut down the exchange server
services if necessary so as to not cause problems scanning.

Any comments? I know there are virus solutions that we can purchase
that run with exchange ... this is just a short term solution to ensure
that we are running virus free ....

thanks,

JL

Don't go anywhere near free. If your email is important then it's
important enough to pay for a scanner, either from MessageLabs or
buying a product to install on your servers, preferably both.

I agree with Mark. You know you can get fully functional evals of most
decent products anyway, right?
I'm personally a Trend Micro fan - ScanMail, OfficeScan, and ServerProtect.
30 day evals available for download. Check out NeatSuite (or the
Client/Server/Messaging Suite).
