Hi, I have inherited 4 servers with no virus protection on them (the clients themselves have protection) and one of the servers is running Exchange Server 2000. I am wondering if I can run one of the free online virus scanners (such as the one on TrendMicro's site) on these computers including the exchange server? I would be able to shut down the exchange server services if necessary so as to not cause problems scanning. Any comments? I know there are virus solutions that we can purchase that run with exchange ... this is just a short term solution to ensure that we are running virus free .... thanks, JL

If your email is important then it's important enough to pay for a scanner, either from MessageLabs or buying a product to install on your servers, preferably both.

You know you can get fully functional evals of most decent products anyway, right? I'm personally a Trend Micro fan - ScanMail, OfficeScan, and ServerProtect. 30 day evals available for download. Check out NeatSuite (or the Client/Server/Messaging Suite).
