Has anyone come across this problem before? Background We had a server running SBS2000. The backup software was reporting a corrupt Information Store and the event log said that it might be a hardware problem. To resolve this problem we had a new server built with SBS2003 as the operating system. After restoring all the mailboxes we are still getting the same errors (below). Surely it cannot be a hardware problem but a exchange problem??? When we backup the Info Store it fails at the same point everytime, but it does not tell you where the corruption occurs or which mailbox is affected. Please can anyone help? Backup - \\SBSERVER\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group WARNING: "\\SBSERVER\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group \Mailbox Store (SBSERVER)" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify. Verify - \\SBSERVER\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group WARNING: "Mailbox Store (SBSERVER)" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify. Information Store (392) The database page read from the file "C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb" at offset 233549824 (0x000000000debb000) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes failed verification due to a page checksum mismatch. The expected checksum was 1663824791 (0x632bf397) and the actual checksum was 1664086935 (0x632ff397). The read operation will fail with error -1018 (0xfffffc06). If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.
Hi, How did you restore the mailboxes (by restoring the complete database??). This might help you troubleshoot the -1018 error: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314917 Leif "LJC" skrev i en meddelelse news:MPG.1ceaabf843a75471989680@news.microsoft.com... > > Has anyone come across this problem before? > > Background > > We had a server running SBS2000. We exported all the information contained in each mailbox to outlook personal folders (*.pst). We then imported the personal folders on to the new server. Sorry in addition to the earlier post the mailboxes were recreated from scratch and were empty prior to importing the personal folders. That is a single bit flip. It is indeed usually a hardware problem. Some things to consider: -Does the new server have exactly the same hardware configuration? Occasionally some models do have manufacturing defects (yes, even big name manufacturers). -Did you copy the file over to the new server at all? If so, the corrupted data would still be there (it didn't sound like you did from your answer below, but I thought I'd ask explicitly). -Is the corruption at the same offset? And the same expected/actual values? That would be suspicious if you didn't copy the files from the old server. -Or it could be bad drivers or firmware. Do you have the latest drivers and firmware updates? Anti-virus software is also a common suspect. Not that it helps much now, but Exchange 2003 SP1's Error Correcting Code would have automatically fixed the below bit flip. -martin Boring-but-necessary-disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
